Similan Islands Escape
The Similan group of nine islands lies about 85 kilometers northwest of Phuket. In 1982 they were designated as a national park. The name derives, in fact, from the Malay Yawi word sembilan which means simply ‘nine’.
The Similans are the holy grail of the Southeast Asia diving community, the best of the best. Coasts of rocky outcrops and huge granite boulders strewn by some ancient giant's hand alternate with soft white, sandy beaches, which caressing the barefoot visitor. Bamboo, rattan and gumtree provide a rich emerald profusion which is home to many exotic species including squirrels, crab-eating monkeys and giant butterflies.
This is about as close to an island paradise dream as you are likely to find.
DaVinci will be happy to organize your perfect trip there, be it for one or several days. If you don't bring your own we can provide all diving equipment including our own multi-lingual dive instructors.

Diving in the Similans
What brings divers here in numbers are the fascinating underwater rock and coral formations, warm, crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life – barracuda, trevallies, coral fish and many, many more.
There are relatively shallow dive sites at around seven meters making it ideal for snorkelers as well as for serious scuba divers. Nowadays, it’s not just the dive community who come here. Discriminating travelers savour it for its beauty alone. The park authorities operate a basic restaurant and services when you venture ashore.
