Ao Nang, Krabi Province
There comes a time in every voyage when the thoughts of even the most devoted mariner, turn to the little pleasures that can only be found ashore.
There is no better place, perhaps, to indulge this longing than Ao Nang beach in Krabi province.
Even in these days of mass tourism Ao Nang and the surrounding area have managed to develop a range of hotels, restaurants and bars, catering to all tastes, without losing its appeal. There are plenty of fine restaurants including six (yes, six) Italian restaurants and, of course, beauty salons, spas and all other amenities.
The southern end of the beach has no road access and therefore retains its pristine appeal. Offshore islands have deserted beach moorings and plentiful sites for diving and snorkeling.
On the next peninsula is beautiful Railay beach which boasts only one bar – Coco’s. This has got to be the best beach bar in Southeast Asia and that’s saying something. Sundowners, anybody?
